Missions

Condensed summary of the current matched-play mission framework (Pariah Nexus). For exact mission cards, scoring and deployment maps, use GW's free mission pack.

How a mission works

Pick the missionPlayers generate (or agree) a Deployment, a Primary Mission and a Mission Rule. Games are scored over five battle rounds to a maximum of 100 Victory Points (typically 50 primary / 40 secondary / 10 other in tournament play).
Primary missionMost primary missions score VP in your Command phase from the second battle round for controlling objective markers (commonly up to 15 VP/turn, capped).

Secondary objectives

Fixed vs TacticalBefore the game choose Fixed objectives (two secondaries kept all game) or Tactical (draw secondary cards each turn). You score VP as their conditions are met.
Behind Enemy LinesScore for having units wholly within the enemy deployment zone.
Engage on All FrontsScore for having qualifying units in multiple table quarters.
Bring It DownScore for destroying enemy Monsters and Vehicles (more VP for tougher targets).
AssassinationScore for destroying enemy Characters.
No PrisonersScore based on the number of enemy units destroyed.
CleanseScore for taking control of objective markers in table quarters (then defacing them).
Area Denial / Storm Hostile Objective / Secure No Man's LandPositional objectives scoring for controlling specific objective markers or central ground.
Containment / Recover Assets / Sabotage / Overwhelming ForceFurther tactical cards rewarding aggressive board control and destroying enemy units on objectives.

Deployments

Deployment mapsMaps include Crucible of Battle, Dawn of War, Hammer and Anvil, Search and Destroy, Sweeping Engagement and Tipping Point — each defines the two deployment zones and where objective markers sit.

Mission rules

TwistsA Mission Rule modifies the game for both players (e.g. extra ways to score, shifting objectives, or bonus actions). It's generated alongside the deployment and primary mission.
