How to play Adeptus Mechanicus

A tech-priest synergy army of cheap, specialized robots and cyborgs that punch above their cost only when buffed and positioned correctly. High skill ceiling, swingy, punishes sloppy placement.

Army rule: Doctrina Imperatives: each round pick one of four imperatives (ranged stand-off vs assault push-in), often enhanced for Battleline and nearby units, with trade-offs. Canticles of the Omnissiah layer extra boons on top. Keep units clustered to share bonuses and sequence the imperative to the turn's plan.

Strengths

  • Cheap, efficient bodies with widespread invulnerable bionic saves, durable for their points
  • Strong buff and positioning synergy can spike one priority unit off the table in a turn
  • Stratagem and CP economy that rewards tight, coordinated play

Weaknesses

  • Historically swingy and unforgiving; output craters if buffs or positioning are off
  • Limited high-AP anti-armor, struggles to kill multiple tough targets in a turn
  • The -1-to-hit cover rule bites their already-modest low-AP shooting

Signature combos

Gameplan

Win the positioning game first, using movement, screens, and the imperative cycle to dictate engagements, then deliver concentrated buffed damage onto one key target each turn. Hold objectives with cheap durable bodies and assassinate the enemy's linchpin with precision units.

Playing against Adeptus Mechanicus

Disrupt their clusters and characters to break the buff bubbles, bring durable multi-wound targets since their anti-tank is thin, and pressure them off objectives before the engine comes online.
